Flannel Friday: Little Chick

Thank you Wendy at Flannel Board Fun for hosting the Flannel Friday Round Up this week!  If you something landed here without stopping THERE first, you’ll definitely want to go back and look at what everyone else is up to.  You can also check out the blog, Facebook page, or Pinerest page.  Happy Friday!

I’ve got another guessing game this week that goes along well with a farm, Easter, birds or baby animals theme.  Here’s Little Chick:

Little Chick

Little chick, little chick,

Where did you fly?

Is that you

Behind the yellow egg I spy?

(repeat with other colors)

I’m thinking of going back and adding other farm animals behind the other eggs for next time.  🙂  If you’d like to see how I used this flannel in storytime, visit my Baby Animal Bash post.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Flannel Friday: Birthday Cakes & Snakes!

Happy Birthday Flannel Friday!  Here’s to 5 more years of fun, new friendships and awesome flannels.  🙂  So grateful for this community!

Many thanks to Fun with Friends at Storytime for hosting this week.  As soon as I saw it was Flannel Friday’s birthday (on top of being Read Across America Day), I knew I had to celebrate with a new flannel somehow… and what better way to rhyme, practice color recognition and have fun than with a snake in the cake?!

Mr. Snake

Mr. Snake, Mr. Snake,

Are you hiding

Behind the RED cake?

I’d like to go back and add some candles to the cakes and reattach the red tongue to my poor snake… but the kiddos had a blast anyways.  🙂  I had a nice small group for outreach so they each got a chance to come up to the board and guess.

Don’t forget to visit Flannelboard Fun and see all the other awesome ideas out there.   You can also check out the blog, Facebook page, or Pinerest page.  Happy Friday!

Flannel Friday: Little Moon, Little Moon

This little game went over really well with the family crowd this week- I even caught a mom taking a picture so she could recreate it at home!  Our weekly theme was all about Bedtime and our Every Child Ready to Read focus was Play, so I made a little flannel that worked well with both.  It could also go with an outer space theme.

Little moon, little moon, hiding in the sky.

Is that you behind the blue cloud I spy?

Don’t forget to check out the rest of this week’s inspiration over at What Is Bridget Reading?  Have a great weekend!  (Now that I’m on break for a week from grad school I might actually get around to posting the full plan for once… stay tuned!)

Full plan is up and ready for your viewing pleasure here!

Final Flannel Friday Post: Crazy for Cars

And last but not least, I added these cute little cars and some rhymes to my transportation theme repertoire:

cars

Here’s one fun rhyme you can do…

Driving around in my little red car,

Driving around in my little red car,

Driving around in my little red car,

Zoom, zoom, zoom!

(repeat with other colors)

And another one!

Black road, black road, what do you see?

I see a red car looking at me!

Red car, red car, what do you see?

I see a blue car looking at me!

(repeat with other colors)

Colorful cars, colorful cars, what do you see?

Children and their families, that’s what we see!

*Note: thinking about spicing this up next year with other things that go (e.g. blue truck, yellow copter, etc).

And there you have it!  Glad I have a little break coming up soon.  I absolutely adore story time, but I also have mountains of homework (that I tend not to do in favor of making fun flannels).  Hopefully my next week off story time duty will help me catch up!

Many thanks to Kate at Felt Board Magic for hosting this week’s round up!  Have a great weekend everyone!

Flannel Friday: Singing About Sailboats

Happy Flannel Friday (again!)  As I mentioned in my last post, I made three different flannels this week.  Although I didn’t end up using this one, I’m definitely saving it for later themes this summer.  Plus it’s super adaptable and can be used with a few different rhymes!

sailboats

Here’s the first rhyme I had ready to go…

Sailing along in my little red boat,

Sailing along in my little red boat,

Sailing along in my little red boat.

SPLISH, SPLASH, SPLOOSH!

And another one!

Five little sailboats out at sea,

Sailing along as fast as can be.

The wind picked up and they started to rock.

So the blue one said, “I’m going back to the dock!”

(repeat with other colors and count down, until…)

Now there’s no little sailboats out at sea.

Looks like lots of room for you and me!
